How to report a bug

How to send us a clear bug report, including how to take screenshots and record your screen with OBS.

If something in Snifferdog isn't working as it should, the quickest way to get it fixed is a clear bug report with a screenshot or screen recording.

Use the bug report form

Go to Report a bug. The form walks you through everything we need, then opens your email app with a message to us, subject BUG REPORT, already filled in. Attach your screenshots or recordings and press send.

What makes a great bug report

  1. One bug per report. It helps us track each fix.
  2. Exact steps. What you clicked, in order, so we can make it happen again.
  3. The exact error message. Copy it word for word, or screenshot it.
  4. A screenshot or recording. This is the single most useful thing you can send.

Screenshots

  • Windows: press Win + Shift + S and drag over the area.
  • Mac: press Cmd + Shift + 4 and drag.

Screen recordings with OBS Studio

OBS Studio is free for Windows, Mac and Linux.

  1. Download it from obsproject.com and install it.
  2. In the Sources box, click + and choose Display Capture (on a Mac, macOS Screen Capture).
  3. Click Start Recording, repeat the steps that cause the bug, then click Stop Recording.
  4. Find your video under File, then Show Recordings.

On a Mac you can also press Cmd + Shift + 5 to record without installing anything. If a video is too large to attach, share a Google Drive, OneDrive or WeTransfer link instead.
